Governance

Championing European Fencing

A modern IF (International Federation, the EFC is to be considered as such) should be run akin to a multinational company, with the same principles of governance and accountability.

Transparency

  • The EFC WebSite needs to be updated after almost 10 years in service. A section should be dedicated on publishing extensive reports on the work of the Executive Committee (COMEX).
  • The WebSite should also contain information about the Evaluation methods and principles of new and old projects.
  • Finally the WebSite should give access to all information relevant including financial data.

Definition of KPIs

  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) allow measuring in a standardized and objective way the effectiveness and efficiency of both the COMEX and COMMISSIONS.

Inclusive Governance

  • As I see the EFC as a company the the president chairs his comex lead by principles of collegial management, fostering a collaborative and democratic decision-making process.
  • Ideas are challenged to ensure they are sustainable and compliant with our values and objectives
  • All Federations within the EFC wishing to speak out should have a voice and a place at the table
  • Collaboration is to be achieved through modern tools

Communication

  • A modern multi-channel communication strategy shall ensure timely and effective dissemination of information.
  • Regularly update the EFC website with news, reports, and announcements.
  • Use social media platforms to engage with members and provide real-time updates.
  • Establish a dedicated communication team responsible for managing and coordinating all EFC communications.
  • Facilitate regular webinars and virtual meetings to keep members informed and involved.
  • Develop a comprehensive newsletter that highlights key developments, upcoming events, and member achievements.

Competence over external spending

The key asset of a volunteer is volunteering
  • Internal expertise and hands-on work shall always prevail over outsourcing to external “experts.”
  • Training local people is key to global success.
  • Take up the mentoring program established before for Tbilisi.
  • Offer formal training for all expertise required to make competitions run smoothly.
  • Value our experts, starting with the referees and coaches, not forgetting the administrative, technical, and other staff.
  • Foster transversal communication and collaboration between different expertise.
    2.6 Financial Independence

Financial autonomy

  • Strive for financial independence by engaging regional and local fencers and developing a model where national federations and the EFC can pool their assets and share earnings.
  • Develop an EFC Brand based on our circuits, ensuring Europe remains a stronghold of fencing.
  • Build bonds with other continents to develop fencing using principles that strengthen local competencies.
